TIPS ON MOVING HOUSE FROM A SERIAL MOVER

Moving home is reputed to be among the highest three most stressful things the average person goes through during life. The foremost stressful thing is bereavement, the second is divorce and therefore the third is moving house. Sometimes, the highest two experiences swap around within the stress polls, but always moving house comes in as a strong contender for third place.

So what, you would possibly say. Well, I have moved house more than seventy times during my life and that i suspect i will be able to move once or twice more before I finally shuffle off my mortal coil. This might account for my reputation for being slightly mad. I even have learned one or two useful lessons along the way which could help to pave the road for those of you who are considering the big M.

The first thing is to spring clean thoroughly. This sounds poor advice since you're close to vacate the family home and it's going to get filthy within the process, but actually if you switch out your belongings, throw away the things you not wish to measure with, and clean the furniture within the process, your job at the opposite end will be far easier.

Whilst cleaning, organize any collections you would possibly have into boxes therefore the things which aren't urgently required once you get to your destination are often stored somewhere, therein way you'll unpack them at leisure. Label everything clearly on the side and therefore the top and instruct your packers or mover that boxes or cartons must be stacked at destination with the label showing. Mark your boxes for whatever room you would like them in at destination, like Dining Room, Bedroom 2, Kitchen etc. If you're really efficient, go one step further and number the boxes consistent with the priority during which they're going to be needed.

Unearth carrying cages for your pets and confirm they're clean and prepared to be used. Items which aren't fragile or too heavy are often packed into drawers. There's no point within the mover stacking empty drawers, so make use of them. Remember to not put anything precious in open drawers, though.

Pick two or three DVDs which the youngsters like and tape them to the side of the TV or the highest of the DVD player. Once you get to your new home, asks your husband to line up the TV and DVD player immediately, therefore the children are amused and happy while you affect the chaos of organizing boxes and fixing a working kitchen. Packing a couple of emergency amusements for the children can purchase you an entire lot of obtainable time for the important stuff in your new home.

Pack an emergency kit for your arrival. This kit should include:

The kettle, plus cups, coffee and tea bags, tin opener and corkscrew, cutlery, sugar, milk and emergency dish. If you have pets, remember you'll need their dishes immediately.

A separate box containing enough linen for the family beds for that first night.

Towels soap, shampoo and toothpaste.

Hot water bottles (sometimes new houses are cold until the heating system gets going).

Any medicines that need to be taken on a day to day.

Pack some family clothes and other essentials as you'd for a two day holiday, into suitcases. That way you have emergency clothes for everybody until you get around to unpacking into wardrobes.

Pack valuables like jewelry into bags that travel with you, don't entrust them to anyone else. An equivalent goes for all of the family documentation that's absolutely vital, like passports, medical cards, etc. If you have been efficient enough to finish a listing, remember to stay it with you.

Try to not do what I did once, reach your new home hours after the removal vehicle, then need to pay a huge fee for overtime because the removal staff couldn't gain access. Remember also to not bury the keys to your new home at rock bottom of a packing crate. Check you have all the keys you would like, like garage, garden stores, boiler house, or roof space.

Do not pack the essential cleaning materials you'll need to spruce up the house you're vacating. You'll need to clean it for the new owners, so remember to line aside the vacuum and other necessary cleaning items like cloths, spray polish and bleach until the last moment. I always donate to the new owner a clean towel, new soap within the bathroom, and new toilet rolls altogether the bathrooms. I even have always managed to stay friends with the people that buy my houses and that i am sure that's the reason!

Some people display the foremost revolting behaviour when moving house. I bought a home in the South of England once and therefore the day I moved in, I disturbed the ex owner while she was busy stripping the apple trees of each single piece of fruit. She and her husband were packing them into an outsized box and muttering something about how that they had grown them so why shouldn't they take them. Why indeed. i think she was prepared to form herself ill eating apples instead of leave one for somebody else.

Another lady decided to go away behind all the furniture she had agreed to sell to people, within the house after she had moved! She left instructions on behalf of me about who was to possess what, and when she would be coming to gather the cash they were getting to buy it! She said it had been easier for her that way. Aaaagh!

In India i think it's actually illegal to go away a house without one working light bulb once you vacate a house, but this doesn't stop some people from removing every single one! Stunning isn't it! I'm one among those people that leave behind quite lot of comforts for new owners and that i also leave my houses spotlessly clean. I always think how lovely it must be to enter a new home smelling of lavender and pine disinfectant, because I always manage to inherit disgustingly dirty houses, with filthy toilets and about twenty years of dust, grease and grime clinging to each room.

I must be house hunting within the wrong circles. Set aside an area for your pets during which to recover. Put aside another room for yourself during which to recover. Enjoy your new home.

Thanks & Regards
